Things I love!

Well I must say this weekend made me realize a few things I truly love, or shall I say it reminded me of the things I hold dear. Having our old roommate Rachel here for the weekend was a blast and sure added excitement to our lives. We were able to show her some of Boise's finest and spend quality time at home laughing and napping in the sun! Unfortunately the weather was not too pleasant, but I just have to agree with Boise natives that say "this is such a long winter!" So below the pictures capture the three things I would have to say I absolutely love.

Bowling (despite getting the lowest score both games :)

Fanci Freez (they literally have like 50 milk shake flavors)

7 Facts

Well I have been tagged by my favorite sister-in-law to inform the blogging world seven random facts about myself. Here we go...

1. Well for starters I should mention that my brother and dad have taught me so much about volkswagen bugs over the years, that I now stop and notice every older VW I see on the road. They have even tried to teach me how to recognize what year the bug is. This picture is a tribute to the ragtop that Glendon drove me to high school in everyday.

2. Since I have moved to Idaho and made some fantastic friends I have decided to be a bit more spontaneous. I recently took and unexpected trip to Jackpot, Nevada with some friends from church. We took the 2.5 hour drive to the border and arrived in 16 degree weather, gambled till 4:30 in the morning and returned home as the sun was coming up. It took a few days to recover!

3. All growing up my absolute favorite movie was the wonderful Cool Runnings. I don't think I could ever admit to how many times I watched it, but it was always the first movie I recommended we rent whenever we were at Blockbuster.

4. If there was one food item in the world that I had to say I could not live without it would definitely have to be Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. It goes with everything from: sandwiches, vegetables, pizza, crackers, chips, pasta, and the list could go on forever. I must admit I am a bit partial to the packets that you can mix your own dressing.
5. I used to have tabby cats when I was growing up, but sadly enough most of them lost their lives by being hit by cars in front of our house. One of my favorite cats over the years I would carry around in my overalls and her head would peak out the top. Don't worry this was not last year, but rather in junior high! This particular cat was named Marble and she had four kittens which were all named after flowers despite their gender.

6. I hate admitting this next random fact, but I take rectal temperatures on a daily basis at work. If anyone wants to know an interesting observation I have made since becoming a nurse it is that newborns cry when you take their temperature under their armpit, but when you stick a thermometer up their backside they usually quiet right down.

7. Lastly, I will admit that I have a strange affinity towards cleaning toilets. Don't ask me why, but I really like to clean them. Unfortunately mine is currently in need of a little TLC. In all reality I am just a clean freak and I like cleaning period!
For anyone this reads this hopefully you have learned something about me you did not otherwise know.

Weekend getaway to visit the siblings!

Well I decided earlier last week that I was going to take a short drive down to Utah to spend the weekend with Glendon and Kaytee before the big deployment. (p.s. I love being a nurse and having long weekends that allow for little trips) I do not love being in the car for long periods of time, but I figured I could handle it with some good music and setting the cruise control at about 85 :) I made it there on thursday evening and glendo and I enjoyed a nice dinner from subway together. Then it was Kaytee and my job to keep him awake because he was working midnight to noon, therefore we went on a late night "pop-run" to albertsons. The next morning Kaytee and I were quite lazy, but the afternoon held great plans. Kaytee chopped off her hair and highlighted it while I sat and watched. Then we headed out to costco for some excitement and met up with some utah friends for dinner at chilis. We ended the night by watching glendon's favorite tv show, Dukes of Hazzard! Saturday we left for Salt Lake to shop most of the day. Glendon does a fantastic job at keeping up with Kaytee and I :) Saturday night they had a friend that was singing at a local coffee shop so we headed out to support her and hang out with their friends. Of course Sunday we went to church in beautiful Huntsville (I always love the drive to church through the mountains and past the frozen lake). Then Kaytee and I took a short nap and glendon thought it would be funny to pour water into my mouth. We were not successful :( I asked Glendon if we could go running, and about a block into the run I was regretting my request. The altitude change and speed were kicking my butt, but I survived and even sprinted with him down their street. We ended my visit by me critiquing glendon's ability to hang valences in the kitchen. What a fun relaxing weekend with my favorite brother and sister-in-law. See you next year Glendon!!!!

Below are some pictures to document the weekend.
